How the brain works according to Dr. John Medina and Wii
In one of his last posts he got me on to this presentation by Garr Reynolds based on the book ‘ Brain Rules ' written by Dr. John Medina. The presentation is a lot of fun, really focused on the essence of how the brain works and specifically how presenters can make a presentation much more thrilling for their audiences. The only downside is when the presentation falls into the "10% oral/ 30 visual/ 65% oral and visual" trap; which has been discussed and ... narrative to make a successful presentation.
Okay but back to the presentation of Garr Reynolds, it is an amazing one!

AG08 keynote speaker John Patrick: the future of the Internet
... my own thoughts - if any - in itallics) info on John Patrick Up until now only 5% is being used of the Internet; and the Internet is about PEOPLE. Digital music if the music managers would have listened to technologists, the music industry would have had no discussion about legally sharing music. The same thing will happen to all the other industries. Local is the thing to look at on the internet now: it is both global and local. In theory you can have one device that does everything, but what we see is divergence, more diversification of devices (mentions Amazon Kinddle).

Find Speaker for Local ASTD Chapter
I've been approached quite a bit recently to do presentations at local ASTD chapters or to help find a speaker. The reality is that I can't afford to do free presentations at local events. In some cases, I am finding myself doing workshops locally that can then help fund it. I'm looking forward to doing more of these this next year. But in the cases where that's not going to work out, I would really like to help the person find a speaker who is local and who can speak to ... speaker in the Birmingham, Alabama area for a local ASTD on eLearning 2.0 or Work Literacy. Discover The Brain - and James Gee
I don't normally find anything good in the magazine section of the local grocery store and so I'll rate this as an anomoly. A couple weeks ago I found Discover presents The Brain. One of the sections is titled Your Brain on: Sex, Fear, Video games. Sure, you might think it was the sex that pulled me in, but alas, I must admit I was more excited about the video games. James Gee's work is the primary topic of discussion but there is a lot of research covered in this article subtitled Gaming isn't for slackers: It sharpens thinking, hones social skills, and fine-tunes ...
