Back from I/ITSEC....let me explain this creature a bit...
Friday, December 5, 2008
So I'm back from IITSEC and I'm starting to dig through all the backlog of stuff (emails, Tweets, etc) but I did want to post something about this conference since it is a unique experience for me. The unique aspect is that usually I post a lot of stuff from the conferences I attend/present at but not this one. Why? 'IITSEC is different' seems to be ... presentations are only 20 mintutes long and all the papers are published on a CD that comes in your bag so physical attendance ... tools and systems to cargo helicopter training packages. So its a huge face-to-face social network opp, an insane ...

Networks of Everything
Tuesday, December 2, 2008
Apparently, by 2017 , personal networks will consist of over 1000 devices. I’m not sure how they came up with that number, but it seems realistic. Most of us already deal with hundreds of devices on a daily basis. They’re not all networked yet…but they will be. The key to effective functioning with these multiple devices will be in how they are connected and in how we can use that connectedness in making decisions. Obviously, we need something more than ... deciphering and presenting patterns for us to consider.

The guru is dead, long live the network - Inside Knowledge
There are networks out there that are extremely ... . We present statements about your audience, purpose and context. From Rossett & Schafer's new book, " Job Aids and ... - Presentation Zen
I really like the idea of "getting off the grid," stepping away from the computer and "going analog" in the preparation stage of the presentation process. Large sheets of paper and marking pens - as "old school" as they may seem - can be wonderful, simple tools for presenting your ideas or recording the ideas of others.

Using Blog for Presentation - eLearning?
Dennis McDonald has a great post about Using a Blog for a "Web2.0" Presentation instead of PowerPoint . I love his postscript: "I debated whether or not to use the term "Web 2.0," which has fallen out of favor among the cognoscenti. I decided to use it, though, simply because it has to an extent emerged into popular usage and it takes less space to type than the words "social networking and social media." Here is how I defined "web 2.0" for the group: The term ... participate in Web 2.0 exchanges of information, the more powerful "network effects" become." I really like ...

Good Source Material for Your Next Presentation on Social Networks and Corporate Learning.
... reading.
The article, " Social Networking and Corporate Learning " is a quick read and could serve as a jumping-off point/research source for you if you're preparing a presentation in the future about, say, the impact of social networks in the corporate learning environment .
For a one-pager, it's packed with a laundry list of concepts and discussion points to explore in your presentation.
A list of corporate case studies is always a valuable section to include in a presentation, for example. And while Bersin's article doesn't go into detail about each case ...

The Importance of Learning Slowly - Gary Woodill
Like neural networks, the brain is based on vector algebra, rather than numerical computations. Vectors have strength and direction, and many vectors, representing multiple inputs, unite to form a result. The result in the brain is strengthening or weakening of a set of neural connections, a relatively slow process.
