This morning, hundreds of us packed the ballroom of the new Hyatt Regency Colorado Convention Center for the opening of TechKnowledge 06. Arrived back from the ASTD TechKnowledge 2008 conference late the other night (3:00am) but the conference was worth it. I got to see a lot of people and make some really good connections. Matt Monahan and I had a lot of fun in our pre-conference workshop, Learning in 3D . Continuing what has now become somewhat a tradition (see Beer Tasting at ASTD TechKnowledge , and Boston, Beer - Bloggers - Learn.com ), I plan to informally get together with bloggers at the ASTD conference in Atlanta in June to go have a few beers. I just realized that's less than a month away. We'll do it on June 4th in the evening. If you are planning to go to ASTD and you have a blog, drop me a comment. Or if you needed that extra little incentive to start a blog right now, this may be the trick.

I'm on the flight back from ASTD TechKnowledge and thought I should try to capture some initial thoughts from the conference and sessions while it was still fresh and before life clouds my memory... I did two sessions and face time at the conference. I also had some really good lunch conversations. I found that one-on-one and small group is a fantastic way to have meaningful discussions. It's too bad that there aren't ways to do more of this at a conference ... That was a big challenge. I'm going to do a similar presentation in June at ASTD ICE in San Diego .

There's a great discussion in the comments on my post around small group discussions at conferences. I've updated the original post a bit and would welcome additional thoughts over the next two days in order to help me figure out what I'm going to do in my session at ASTD TechKnowledge.

One of the bigger thinkers organization learning, knowledge management and the use of technology - Tony O'Driscoll - has finally bit the bullet and started a blog: Learning Matters! Last week, while attending ASTD's TechKnowledge, I had the chance to catch Harvey Singh's presentation on learning and mobile technologies. Besides the fact that I now have to have a tablet PC - NOW! - one comment Harvey made stuck with me. (Paraphrasing) mobile technologies can enable intervention as performance begins to become misaligned with goal behaviors creating a tangible performance improvement. I'm doing a keynote presentation at ASTD TechKnowledge in January on New Work Literacies and eLearning 2.0 and another session on Learning 2.0 . I would really like to be able to point attendees, blog readers, and realistically a lot of other folks to a set of resources that would help them on these topics.
