Took a closer look at the Big Question . If I had start my career over again. The one thing I would do first is. Look at lots and lots of elearning. The good, the bad, the ugly. Then I would ask questions about each. - Did I learn ... really cool about this tutorial? - Was I bored? - How would I do this better? - What would my product look like? Then ... on to another tool that you think will get you closer to your vision. This way, you have models of what works and what ... the different tools that are currently available. This month’s Big Question from the Learning Circuit’s blog is, basically, where do you begin? Of course, that begs the question: what do you already know? Design, ID, a tool, ?
However, it appears that the question sort of assumes a preexisting master’s in ID/IT. Which, if it’s done well, includes several different tools, lots ... prototype: it can be PPT, raw html, whatever. Or a rapid elearning tool, but don’t put hands to a development tool ... you’ve figured out the best design).

The Big Question: Leading the ... sort of PowerPoint-based tool both for myself, because I like to package up my presentations with audio for web delivery ... tools can be configured directly from PowerPoint and that you can customise them using all the usual PowerPoint features. Im not a great fan of these simple correct / incorrect question formats, but I know they work for many people.

Now if you pick up a copy of Captivate, you'll find that most of the design ideas are incorporated in the product. So, the question about what design choices you have in Software Simulation eLearning is no longer interesting. If you read my blog, you know that I was just lamenting Is the Big Question Half-Full or Half-Empty? basically saying that I wasn't sure I was getting much value ... future Big Questions or as part of a group discussion in a panel or at a morning breakfast table at a conference.
