First eLearning?
Friday, October 3, 2008
This month’s Big Question from the Learning Circuit’s blog is, basically, where do you begin? Of course, that begs the question: what do you already know? Design, ID, a tool, ?
However, it appears that the question sort of assumes a preexisting master’s in ID/IT. Which, if it’s done well, includes several different tools, lots of ID, a whiff of interface design, some experience prototyping different types of interactions (sync, games, etc), and ... prototype: it can be PPT, raw html, whatever. Or a rapid elearning tool, but don’t put hands to a development ...

The big question for January: quality v speed
The Learning Circuits big question for January asks "What are the trade offs between quality learning programs and rapid e-learning and how do you decide?" Well, there's an assumption underlying this and I'm questioning it. Who says e-learning materials that take a long time to produce are necessarily high quality, let alone relevant or effective? There isn't a member of the e-learning community who hasn't worked on projects that were over-engineered, over budget ... that the development of interactive e-learning materials, where these are clearly needed, should always be rapid.

Rapid E-Learning Trade-Offs
This month the Big Question on the Learning Circuit's blog has to do with rapid e-learning. "What are the trade offs between quality learning programs and rapid e-learning and how do you decide?" So you can read more of my thoughts on rapid e-learning in the magazine. In the meantime ... design effective learning more quickly than in the past. In fact, what most often passes for rapid e-learning is a ...

The big question: What are your predictions for learning in 2008
... squeezed budgets. I'd like to think that subject experts and generalist trainers will be enfranchised as rapid e-learning authors, but progress along this path will be slow. We'll see more online rapid e-learning authoring environments come on the market, perhaps even open source. At the higher end of asynchronous e-learning, we'll see increasing ... In addressing this month's question on the Learning Circuits Blog , I was tempted by an observation made by ... brief and to the point. Where asynchronous e-learning is used - and it will probably be needed to compensate for ...
