I want to Blog...Where to Start?
Monday, December 1, 2008
... blogging tool of choice (blogger, wordpress , etc)? Have you always used the same tool? If you switched why? How often to you post? Does traffic to your blog matter to you? Do you try to stick to one topic/theme or are you generalized? How many other blogs do you follow? Have you kept your blog in the standard templates offered, have you tweaked it, or have you designed your own fully? Do you blog internally for a company/organization or is it out there for the world to see? Do you try to promote your blog (increase its searchablility - is that a word)?

Thoughts on Live Blogging
This was really the first time I've live blogged. Very pleased with the results of this particular experiment. 1) I have a place where I can now reference all of the stuff from the conference. When I get a chance (probably tomorrow), I'm going to tag all of the posts and put a link on the side (probably replacing the Moodle link). I'm overdue for updating my blogger template anyway. 2) The manager commented that it seemed like she was right there with me - which tells ... around. It was kinda cool. Live blogging is also a good cover for when you are not feeling particularly social - as ...

Blogging is no longer what it was
An article in The Economist of November 6th entitled " Oh, grow up ", highlighted the way that blogging has ... 'retirement' of A-list blogger Jason Calacanis, who complained that "blogging had become simply too big, too ... following them. Blogging may have become mainstream, with many of the most popular blogs operated by publishers and broadcasters, and with only thinly-disguised promotional blogs now commonplace, but it is an exaggeration to say that it has become the tool of the masses: the everyday use of blogs for individuals to communicate with friends and family ...

Who knows of "C"-level executives that have blogs?

I think I'm legally required to post about this "State of the Blogosphere / 2008"
... are more blogs than ever, what is interesting here - actually there is a lot to wade through so here are my high points:
I do like this image -mainly because - in the best ego-surfing modality of the blogosphere - this blog seems to be one of the 76,000 blogs with a Technorati Authority of 50+ (now granted, I just squeak in with a 68 but hey a win is a win).
As I sit here writing this blog post with my Twitter open, my Yammer going, Facebok up and ... word blog is irrelevant, what's important is that it is now
common, and will soon be expected, that every ...

Blogging a Conference
I just saw a blog that appears to have been created solely as a means to interact, capture thoughts and ideas during the Brandon Hall Innovations conference. It's a great way for folks not at the conference to have a sense of what's going on there. And, I bet it is a fantastic learning and networking experience for the blogger. Kudos to the BH folks for encouraging this even if there were issues .

Day 2: Welcome to Day 2 of Mark's "Clear the Tabs" Blog-a-thon"
No, in answer to your many calls and emails, I have not made enough money from the Tip Jar experiment to quit working - but we're getting close! :-)
I am getting rid of some of my backlog of tabs but I have this problem where I keep getting new feeds from Twitter ( Dion Hinchcliffe's tweets are particularly addictive) and Netvibes and I haven't been able to squash the reaction to click open a new tab - but I'm working on it.
Evidently Apple is also 'working on it' - looks like they sold something like 1 million 3G iPhones in 3 days and 10 million apps were downloaded. I'll ...

Blog Day - (a little late though)
Well I actually got to go away this weekend camping. Yeah!!! One final hurrah of the summer and so thankfully the last long weekend of the summer was full of heat and sun. Blog Action Day 2008: My experience with poverty
Today is Blog Action Day , and the topic is fighting poverty. One of my colleagues at EMC has already posted his Blog Action post (go see Steve Todd’s post).
I thought I would just tell my story. I grew up in Northwest Florida . My father got out of the Air Force as a conscientious objector when I was 5 years old, right at the end of the Vietnam Conflict. I have always wondered if his decision was prompted by the fact that my Uncle, who was an MIA, was left in a POW camp when the US pulled out of Vietnam.
My parents had 5 kids that were aged five and under when my ...

Spying on Others
I am a gardenia...... During last week's illness (and before I killed off my old computer), the eLearning and technology blogs seemed like too much work for my fever-addled brain. I couldn't concentrate on my usual round of reading (news, sports, cooking). I couldn't get comfortable enough to sleep. I found myself reading fragrance blogs. Currently catching up on my feed reader.... I've had a tough time even looking at a computer the past couple of days - much less doing anything on one.
