Pecha-kucha
In reading Garr Reynold's excellent Presentation Zen (more about that in a later post), I came across a great idea for conferences and meetings called Pecha-kucha. Apparently, Pecha-kucha (Japanese for chatter) was started in 2003 by Tokyo expatriate architects Mark Dytham and Astrid Klein as an alternative presentation format. Each speaker has 20 slides ... conference, or as the basis for a webinar. And of course the format is ideal for packaging up with some narration and converting to Flash for delivery online after the event. Now all I've got to work out is how to pronounce it.

Ten Predictions for eLearning 2008
... some embedded training snippets or an embedded fun Flash Quiz. Short, fast and to the point will be the standard. This ... a series of events (success of small group discussions at eLearningGuild in the Fall, success of the virtual conference with George Siemens, discussion with Jay Cross and others about a conference for people with more experience, and discussion by Luis Suarez about a targeted virtual conference), I'm starting to think that the way to go is to have frequent, more targeted online, virtual discussions on particular topics. The format of the virtual conference that George and ...

Day 2 eLearnDevCon - Exquisitely Frustrating
The thing I love and hate about conferences like this is the number of great ideas I'm given. I love the intellectual and creative rush of seeing other people's work and how they did it. I hate that I have no time to go play and attempt ... that session truly inspired.2) Seriously upgrade my Flash and ActionScript chops.Adam Brown did a very fast-paced demonstration of ActionScript 3.0. I've done a little bit with Flash MX 2004 and ActionScript 2.0. Nothing terribly complicated ... change, and Adam is a die-hard hard-coder, but I figure that if I can improve my Flash chops, the technical quality ...

Invite or Seduce?
Dan Klein, the former VP of PeopleSoft's Education Department, once told me that "We need to invite the learner into the learning."
