'Wikis' Offer Knowledge-Sharing Online
Taran Rampersad didn't complain when he failed to find anything on his hometown in the online encyclopedia Wikipedia. Instead, he simply wrote his own entry for San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago. Wikipedia is unique for an encyclopedia because anybody can add, edit and even erase. And the Wikipedia is just one - albeit the best known - of a growing breed of Internet knowledge-sharing communities called Wikis.

mobile update
Just stumbled on an interesting mobile platform: www.redhalo.com , I will be testing this platform in the next couple of weeks. Looks easy and nice. I also found a really great personal wiki for mobile devices which works like clockwork on my HTC: Blade wiki . And I made myself member of the eLearning guild to get some extra knowledge on what is out there and to get the ITM mobile projects better known to the rest of the learning developers.

Ultimate Knowledge Bank?
I was just talking about how with Blogs, Wikis and Social Networks, we were on the path to trying to make it easy to have content get created as part of work and have it available to others in controlled ways. I said at the time that what we needed was something that would record everything we did or thought. I just saw this article: http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/10/16/explorers.memory/index.html It certainly makes you think about the longer term implications of learning and technology are in a world where we have access to all information stored by everyone.

Davids versus Goliath: a comparison of wikis versus Blackboard CMS - ZDNet
can Web 2.0 tools truly replace something as big as a CMS? In my analysis, the answer is a resounding yes. Whereas Blackboard was designed for instructors, wikis were made for everyone. Blackboard is big, and has more features than most people will ever use. Wiki is small, and has one feature that's simple enough to be applied to any use. The fundamental difference between the two is this: Blackboard is something designed to do everything, and the wiki is something that can do everything because of its ...
