Progress on Management Training Program
Months and Months ago I mentioned how I am starting my first larger scale eLearning project in a posting titled Manager Training Program . I am now knee deep in the project and learning a lot along the way. I designed and developed a prototype for the first course and it is under review now. I am expecting that there may be some barriers I have to overcome due to the fact that this is a big change in how we facilitate training programs, and nobody likes change. Due to budgetary restrictions I am limited to Power Point in combination with a PPT to Flash Converter as my authoring ...

Manager Training Online Courses
I received an inquiry from someone I know, and I'm hoping people who read this blog can make suggestions. I'm looking for vendors who supply off-the-shelf training for basic manager skills such as, time management and delegation. Thus far I've looked at Element K, SkillSoft, Vital Learning, Ninth House, and Achieve Global. What I like about these providers is the scope of what they offer -- many courses to choose from. Are there other providers you'd recommend I look at? Those vendors are certainly at the top of my list and I'm not sure I have other suggestions. Any other providers ...

To Moodle or not to Moodle
To Moodle or not to Moodle, that is the question. I have come to a crossroads with a project that I have written about before. I am currently in the process of developing a series of eLearning courses that are part of a blended management training program. At this point, I have 3 of the 6 courses complete. Here is where it get's interesting, an associate installed Moodle to start playing around. It's up and running, just needs to be used. So here's the decision, do I migrate from simply uploading these courses to MS Sharepoint like usual, or do we get crazy and try to implement ...

Hello Captivate!
My Adobe creative suite and Captivate arrived and I have already dove into a project in Captivate. While I was waiting for the software to arrive, I designed and storyboarded a soft skill scenario simulation for management training courses that I am working on. Now I am knee deep in developing it in Captivate and I am kicking myself for not pushing harder for this purchase a year ago. Using My IT Buddy
I received an excellent example of the value of IT friends within an organization. Yesterday, I talked to one of the members of our network team. The conversation started with borrowing sugar (all we currently have in our office is Splenda, Equal, and Sweet and Low - YUCK!). As we talked, he saw the Google Sidebar on my personal laptop. So you've found Google Sidebar? Yeah - I'm thinking of using it as a possible training resource tool here. Whaddya think? I love Google Sidebar. Very cool tool. I have it on my home PC. I'm really concerned about how the computers here ...

LMS Is Not Managing Classroom Based Training
My days and nights are still consumed with the issue that our LMS does not manage classroom based courses well at all. I can not find a work around for our courses that run over many different days. The vendor gave me a solution if they are all in the same week, but that doesn't solve it. The Perfect Learning Management System (LMS)
I often find myself daydreaming when dealing with LMS problems. I say to myself, "If I built an LMS, it would…….." Ah, if only it were that easy. This line of thinking leads me to these questions: How would you design your perfect LMS? What features would you include (or exclude)? How would it differ from current LMS products on the market?
I’ll start this off, but I really would love to hear your thoughts. Who knows, maybe (if we’re lucky) some LMS vendors are listening!
My perfect LMS would…
